Turbat Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Turbat on Saturday and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to improving Balochistan’s socio-economic development, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Review of Security and Development Initiatives

During the visit, Field Marshal Munir interacted with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and representatives of the local civil administration. The discussions focused on the security situation, progress of development projects, and coordination between civil and military institutions to ensure stability and prosperity in the province.

According to ISPR, the army chief emphasized the importance of inclusive and people-centric development in southern Balochistan. He highlighted the need for infrastructure upgrades, good governance, and collaborative efforts to address long-standing challenges in the region.

“The army will stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Balochistan in their pursuit of peace and sustainable development,” COAS Munir said, reaffirming support for all initiatives targeting socio-economic uplift.

Briefing on Security and Ongoing Projects

Field Marshal Munir was given a detailed briefing on security dynamics, including the threat landscape and successful counterterrorism operations against elements described as ‘Fitna al Hindustan.’ The briefing also covered current development programs and measures aimed at improving living conditions in southern Balochistan.

Addressing troops during the visit, COAS Munir praised their high morale, operational readiness, and unwavering dedication to safeguarding national sovereignty. “Your commitment ensures peace and stability in a challenging environment,” he remarked.

Focus on Economic Security

The visit aligns with the government’s broader agenda to prioritize Balochistan’s development. In April, the army chief stressed the role of economic security as part of national security during the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum. He assured that the military will provide a robust security framework to protect investors’ confidence in Balochistan’s mineral sector.

The provincial government has allocated Rs249.50 billion for its Annual Development Plan (ADP) in the 2025-2026 budget, introducing several projects under public-private partnerships. Recently, the Balochistan cabinet approved new security measures and welfare initiatives, including farmer subsidies and the establishment of additional police stations.

COAS Munir’s visit to Turbat and his reaffirmation of socio-economic development underscore the civil-military resolve to improve conditions in Balochistan and promote long-term stability.
