Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is set to Kabul on Thursday to participate in a high-level trilateral dialogue hosted by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. The meeting is aimed at enhancing regional cooperation and addressing pressing political and economic challenges in the region.
Dar leads the Pakistani delegation, which includes senior officials such as the Federal Minister for Railways. A high-level Uzbek delegation led by the Minister of Transport also arrived in Kabul earlier today. Both delegations are set to participate in key bilateral and trilateral meetings.
Shortly after their arrival, the Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is hosting a political consultation session with both delegations. The closed-door session will focus on political coordination, regional dialogue, and collective responses to regional and international challenges.
Afghan Foreign Minister Muttaqi is expected to present the Islamic Emirate’s vision on political cooperation, economic integration, and regional stability.
Following the consultation, the three countries will sign a feasibility study agreement for the Trans-Afghan Railway Project at the Presidential Palace (Arg). The agreement marks a historic milestone and aims to transform regional trade and connectivity.
The Trans-Afghan Railway is envisioned as a major corridor linking Central Asia to South Asian ports such as Gwadar and Karachi, potentially reshaping trade dynamics across the region.
After the signing ceremony, both the Uzbek and Pakistani delegations will hold bilateral meetings with senior officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Discussions will focus on expanding political, economic, and commercial ties, as well as infrastructure cooperation.
These engagements are seen as steps toward building regional trust, promoting sustainable development, and creating a shared vision for political harmony. The Trans-Afghan project, in particular, is regarded as a transformative initiative for the region’s future.
