Eidul Azha: Celebrating Unity, Sacrifice, and National Solidarity

Islamabad, June 7, 2025: Pakistan celebrated Eidul Azha on Saturday with nationwide prayers, heartfelt messages from leaders, and a strong call for unity and selflessness. Across cities, towns, and villages, congregational prayers took place at mosques, Eidgahs, and open spaces. Meanwhile, municipal administrations actively managed the disposal of sacrificial waste to maintain cleanliness during the three-day festival.

Leaders Emphasize Unity and Sacrifice

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm congratulations to the Pakistani nation and the global Muslim Ummah. They urged citizens to embody values of sacrifice, love, brotherhood, and unity in their daily lives. President Zardari highlighted the importance of learning from Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) spirit of faith and selflessness, emphasizing support for the underprivileged and marginalized communities. He called on the nation to stand together, share each other’s sorrows, and work collectively toward building a prosperous Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reinforced this message by stating that Eidul Azha teaches sacrifice beyond animals, it requires us to sacrifice ego and personal interests for greater good. He reminded the public to remember the struggles of Palestinians and the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with their cause. Together with former Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz, the Prime Minister offered prayers in Lahore’s Model Town.

Armed Forces Pay Tribute and Celebrate with Troops

Top military leaders, including Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, expressed profound felicitations to the nation. They honored families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for peace and security. The COAS visited frontline troops along the Line of Control, offering prayers and acknowledging their unwavering commitment. He praised their high morale, operational readiness, and effective response during recent escalations with India. The army chief reaffirmed the armed forces’ dedication to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and vowed to decisively deter any aggression.

Diplomatic Exchanges Strengthen Regional Peace Efforts

In addition to domestic celebrations, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar exchanged Eid greetings with foreign leaders, including those from Malaysia, Tajikistan, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Egypt. These conversations emphasized peace, stability, and stronger bilateral cooperation. The Prime Minister appreciated international efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region and reiterated Pakistan’s readiness for dialogue with India on outstanding issues, including Kashmir.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan and First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also shared Eid greetings on social media, encouraging compassion and solidarity.

As Pakistan marked this sacred occasion, the spirit of Eidul Azha resonated deeply across the country, inspiring unity, sacrifice, and hope for a peaceful future.
