Islamabad— Former Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed has been sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment after being found guilty on multiple charges, including political interference and violations of the Official Secrets Act.
The verdict was formally announced on December 11, 2025, following a 15-month-long Field General Court Martial, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The trial began on August 12, 2024, under provisions of the Pakistan Army Act.
According to ISPR, Faiz Hameed was tried on four major charges: engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act in ways deemed harmful to the safety and interests of the state, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing wrongful loss to individuals.
After what the military described as “lengthy and laborious” legal proceedings, the court found him guilty on all counts.
ISPR emphasized that the process adhered strictly to legal requirements and that the accused was granted full rights, including representation by a defence team of his choice.
As per legal procedures, the convict retains the right to appeal the verdict at the relevant forum.
ISPR further noted that Faiz Hameed’s involvement in “fomenting vested political agitation and instability in cohorts with political elements” is being handled separately and may lead to additional proceedings.
The conviction marks one of the most significant disciplinary actions against a former senior military official in recent years, underscoring the army’s stated commitment to internal accountability and institutional discipline.
