Fake Islamic Scholar Honored in TTP Social Media Campaign

May 29, 2025

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) will launch an online campaign on May 29 to glorify its leader, fake Islamic scholar Noor Wali Mehsud. The campaign begins at 8:00 AM on TTP-linked social media platforms, especially X handles like @UmarMedia_TTP and @VoiceOfShariaTTP.

Despite claiming religious authority, Noor Wali has no formal degree in Islamic sciences. He never studied at any credible seminary—neither Darul Uloom Deoband, Al-Azhar, Binoria, nor Jamia Farooqia. His so-called fatwas hold no scholarly weight and serve only to justify violence.

Fake Islamic Scholar With No Credentials

Noor Wali has no ijazah (certification), no sanad (scholarly chain), and no link to the four Sunni schools of thought. He never studied under a qualified alim. He cannot lead prayer in a mosque, yet he declares jihad in Islam’s name.

His teachings glorify suicide bombings, attacks on mosques, schools, and the murder of civilians. Islam strictly forbids such actions. Yet Noor Wali calls them jihad. Real scholars debate with books. He debates with bombs. His only credential is violence.

According to the Qur’an (5:32), “Whoever kills an innocent… it is as if he had killed all mankind.” Noor Wali defies this, turning faith into fuel for terror. His sermons are not religious—they’re rebellion masked in scripture.

Foreign Funding and Militant Propaganda

His propaganda is not homegrown. According to the February 2025 UN Monitoring Report, Noor Wali and his family receive $43,000 monthly from the Afghan Taliban. This financial support funds his digital campaigns, recruitment, and operations.

This online glorification is not about religion. It is about misusing Islam for power and fear. TTP’s campaign dishonors true Islamic scholarship. In truth, Noor Wali is not a leader of faith—but a fake Islamic scholar masking violence as virtue. Furthermore, respected seminaries and scholars have repeatedly rejected his so-called fatwas. Consequently, his words hold no weight in the eyes of real ulema.
