Islamabad – Pakistani analysts have strongly criticized recent comments from Fathullah Mansoor, son of former Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor, and Afghanistan’s Deputy Minister for Transport and Aviation, calling his statement “irresponsible” and disconnected from ground realities.
In a public message, Fathullah Mansoor alleged that “malicious elements in a neighboring country” were attempting to weaken the Taliban government and must be “eliminated.” His remarks are widely interpreted as a reference to Pakistan.
Call for Obedience to Taliban Leadership
Mansoor stressed that absolute obedience to Taliban leaders is essential for Afghanistan’s stability. He claimed certain actors from a neighboring state were trying to “create unrest” within Afghanistan, something the Taliban would not tolerate.
His father, Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor, was killed in a 2016 U.S. drone strike. At the time, he was traveling on a Pakistani passport and reportedly used Karachi Airport frequently for international travel.

Pakistan Labels Remarks ‘Baseless and Irresponsible’
Although Islamabad has not issued a direct public response, diplomatic sources indicate that Pakistan considers Fathullah Mansoor’s allegations “baseless,” “irresponsible,” and contrary to verified facts.
Pakistan maintains that it has made unmatched sacrifices in the fight against terrorism over the past two decades. Officials reiterate that Afghan soil has repeatedly been used for attacks against Pakistan, with evidence shared on multiple occasions.
Need for Cooperation Amid Growing Cross-Border Attacks
Pakistani authorities have expressed alarm over rising cross-border terrorist incidents and emphasized that preventing such attacks is the responsibility of the Taliban government.
Diplomatic officials stress that regional stability depends on practical cooperation in areas such as counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, and border management, not inflammatory statements that fuel tensions.
Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan remain strained, and observers warn that such provocative comments could further destabilize an already delicate situation.
