PALM SPRINGS, Saturday – A bomb exploded outside a fertility clinic in California, killing one person and injuring four. The FBI has declared the incident an “act of terrorism” and launched a full-scale investigation.

FBI Labels Fertility Clinic Bombing a Terrorist Attack

The powerful explosion rocked downtown Palm Springs, damaging several nearby buildings and scattering debris across multiple blocks.

FBI Los Angeles Field Office Chief Akil Davis stated the bombing was intentional. “This is an intentional act of terrorism,” he announced during a press briefing. “This is probably one of the largest bombing investigations in Southern California.”

According to authorities, human remains were discovered near the American Reproductive Centres clinic. The explosion caused the roof to collapse and shattered windows throughout the facility. Investigators suspect a vehicle, found burned out in the clinic’s parking lot, served as the source of the blast.

Mayor Ron deHarte confirmed that a car bomb caused the explosion. Witnesses reported the vehicle was hurled across four lanes into another medical center’s parking lot due to the force of the detonation.

Although the FBI has not yet confirmed the deceased’s identity, ABC News cited law enforcement sources suggesting the victim may have been the attacker. The agency declined to share more details to preserve the integrity of the case.

Despite the destruction, the clinic reported that all staff members were unharmed. It also assured the public that all eggs, embryos, and other reproductive materials in the lab remained fully intact and undamaged.

Former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the attack, calling it “unforgivable.” Advocacy groups also voiced their concern, urging authorities to bolster protections for reproductive healthcare providers.

The fertility clinic bombing has reignited national concern over escalating threats to reproductive health services, especially amid intense public debates around abortion and fertility care.

Investigators continue working on the case. Meanwhile, authorities have tightened security at similar facilities across the country in response to the fertility clinic bombing.
