Rawalpindi – Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of the Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Wednesday praised the courage and patriotism that the people of Balochistan have demonstrated.

In the 18th National Workshop on Balochistan in the General Headquarters (GHQ), the army chief articulated how the military is entirely committed to the peace and progress of Balochistan.

He has expressed his vision of a province where people do not have to fear to live in without the violence propagated by proxies funded by foreign interests.

Standing Against Violence

The army chief said that some groups, with external interests, are attempting to interfere in the lives of regular citizens. He called these aggressive factors proxies whose aim is to prevent development.

But he assured, these hostile designs would be overcome. The security forces will provide a secure environment to Balochistan Peace and Progress by employing strong action against terrorism.

He also credited the civil society with the hard work in combating fake news and propaganda that have attempted to separate the country.

Protecting the Borders

The speech comes after a challenging year of instability in the region. Following the border tensions and air attacks in early 2025, Field Marshal Munir clarified that the sovereignty of Pakistan is non-negotiable.

He had stated that the country would vigorously and openly respond to any effort to act against its integrity, either directly or indirectly.

Defending the borders is fundamental to Balochistan Peace and Progress because when borders are secured, the government has time to construct schools, hospitals, and roads, and not merely to engage in the conflict.

A Better Future for All

A people-centric approach to governance was emphasized in the workshop. Field Marshal Munir applauded the new economic programs by the federal and provincial governments meant to open up the natural abundance in the province.

In his opinion, the province can develop inclusively by shunning political organization that benefits only a few.
