A devastating fire broke out at a factory in the Hattar Industrial Estate area of Haripur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after a suspected gas pipeline explosion. The blaze rapidly spread from the factory to nearby residential houses, resulting in the deaths of eight people, including women and children. Funeral prayers for the deceased were offered in Hattar, while the tragedy has plunged the entire area into mourning.
According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi, the fire erupted after a suspected gas pipeline burst inside the factory, quickly engulfing both the industrial unit and adjacent homes. Rescue teams immediately rushed to the site after receiving an emergency alert.
Rescue Operation
Due to the intensity of the fire, additional fire vehicles and personnel were called in from Mansehra, Abbottabad, Mardan, and Swabi. A total of seven additional fire tenders participated in the operation. After strenuous efforts, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control. Several individuals were rescued alive, while those injured with burns were shifted to hospitals for treatment.
Government Response
Shafi Jan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, calling it a tragic loss of life. He confirmed that emergency services responded promptly and the fire was extinguished after intensive efforts. He assured that the injured are receiving the best possible medical care and that the government stands with the affected families in this difficult time.
Inquiry Committee Formed
A seven-member inquiry committee has been formed under the supervision of Haripur Deputy Commissioner Wasim Ahmed, on the directives of the Commissioner Hazara. The committee will investigate the cause of the explosion and identify those responsible, submitting a detailed report within 24 hours.
Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those found responsible. The incident has raised serious concerns about industrial safety standards and gas pipeline infrastructure in the region.
