Pakistan_ Pakistan is preparing to welcome Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for a two-day official visit to Islamabad on 8–9 December 2025.
The Indonesia President Visit to Pakistan comes on the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In an official press release, the Foreign Office said, “At the invitation of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, H.E. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Prabowo Subianto, will undertake an official visit to Islamabad from 8–9 December 2025.”
The FO confirmed that President Prabowo will be accompanied by a high-level delegation of key ministers and senior officials.
This will be his first visit to Pakistan, and the first Indonesian presidential visit since President Joko Widodo’s trip in 2018.
High-Level meetings and broad cooperation agenda
According to the Foreign Office, “During his stay, President Prabowo will hold delegation-level talks with the Prime Minister. He will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari.”
The FO added that the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, “will call on President Prabowo as well.”
The agenda will cover a wide spectrum of cooperation. The FO stated that both sides will explore opportunities in “trade, investment, defence, health, IT, climate, education and culture, as well as enhancing collaboration at regional and global levels.”
Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit.
Strengthening a 75-year partnership
Pakistan highlighted the depth of ties between the two nations.
The FO said, “Pakistan and Indonesia enjoy close, cordial and long-standing relations, underpinned by shared values and mutual interests.” It added that President Prabowo’s visit “will provide an important opportunity to deepen bilateral ties and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.”
The visit is expected to reinforce political trust, widen economic links and support the continued diversification of Pakistan-Indonesia relations.
