Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has levelled serious allegations against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), declaring it directly involved in anti Iran actions. Speaking at an important BRICS meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister revealed that he had so far refrained from naming the United Arab Emirates only in the interest of Muslim unity and regional considerations. He said that when attacks against Iran began, the UAE did not even condemn them; therefore, it is now time for the Emirates to urgently review its policies regarding Iran.
Abbas Araghchi also strongly criticized the United States in his speech, saying that it is now time for American “bullying” to be thrown into the dustbin of history. He clarified that resistance against US pressure is not a new war, but something that most nations have long faced in different forms. He stated that declining empires may go to any extent to delay their eventual end, and therefore all countries must now unite to confront this dangerous challenge.
This strong statement from the Iranian Foreign Minister comes at a time when, a day earlier, a sensational claim was made by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office. According to Israeli reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu allegedly made a highly secret visit to the UAE during the ongoing Iran-Israel tensions and war, where he met the Emirati president. Although the UAE government has strongly denied this Israeli claim, the diplomatic developments have created a new controversy in the region.
Observers note that Iran’s hardline position from the BRICS platform indicates that its relations with Gulf countries are once again entering a phase of severe coldness. Abbas Araghchi emphasized that countries are now closer than ever in opposing bullying, and ignoring this shared challenge is no longer possible. Iran’s open warning to the UAE may prove to be a precursor to major geopolitical shifts in the Middle East in the coming days.
