Islamabad Police paid rich tribute to the heroic sacrifice of Shaheed Liaqat Ali, a courageous citizen from Kohat, by inviting his family as chief guests at the inauguration ceremony of a newly constructed modern waiting hall at the Traffic Police Office.

The ceremony marked a formal recognition of Liaqat Ali’s bravery, who reportedly sacrificed his life near the Jand and Khushal Garh Bridge area along the Punjab–Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border while stopping a suspected suicide attacker from advancing towards a sensitive checkpoint, potentially averting a major tragedy.

Following the incident, Pakistan’s leadership approved the country’s second-highest civilian award for gallantry, the Sitara-e-Shujaat, for Shaheed Liaqat Ali, upon the special recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and approval by the President of Pakistan.

Family Given Special Protocol

During the event held at the Islamabad Traffic Police office, Shaheed Liaqat Ali’s mother, son, and brother were received with full official protocol and seated as special guests of honor.

Police officials paid tribute to the martyr, stating that Liaqat Ali demonstrated exceptional courage and civic responsibility by confronting a suspected attacker and preventing a possible large-scale loss of life.

They added that dedicating the inauguration ceremony to his family reflects the nation’s commitment to honoring its heroes and recognizing their sacrifices.

National Tribute to Anti-Terror Role

According to officials, Liaqat Ali intervened when a suspicious individual was approaching a sensitive security post, an act that ultimately led to a suicide explosion in which he lost his life while the attacker was also killed.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, praised the martyr’s bravery, calling him a symbol of national resolve in the ongoing fight against terrorism. He said Liaqat Ali’s courage and patriotism would always be remembered as an example of extraordinary civic duty and sacrifice.
