Iran-June 13, 2025: Israel’s airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites early Friday have triggered global concern and drawn strong reactions from countries across the world.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the operation a “decisive moment” in Israel’s history. He claimed the strikes aimed to prevent Iran from building atomic weapons and targeted nuclear scientists, enrichment facilities, and missile factories.
However, Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful. Explosions were reported at key sites, including its main uranium enrichment facility. Tehran has warned of retaliation. Israel, in response, declared a state of emergency in anticipation of counterstrikes.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey Condemn Strikes
Pakistan labeled the Israeli attack “unjustified and illegitimate.” The Foreign Office said the strikes violated Iran’s sovereignty and international law. “Iran has the right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter,” the FO stated.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar added, “This abhorrent action undermines regional stability and international security.” PPP Senator Sherry Rehman also warned that another war in the region could be disastrous, especially for developing nations.
Saudi Arabia, which restored ties with Iran in 2023, issued a strong statement. The Kingdom condemned Israel’s “blatant aggressions” and said they undermined Iran’s sovereignty and violated international norms.
Turkey echoed similar concerns. President Erdogan’s party spokesperson Omer Celik called the attacks “barbaric aggression.” He accused Israel of trying to divert attention from its actions in Gaza and undermining diplomacy between Iran and the U.S.
World Leaders Call for Restraint and Dialogue
The United Nations, for its part, voiced deep alarm over the situation. Secretary-General António Guterres firmly condemned the escalation. He urged both nations to exercise “maximum restraint,” especially during ongoing nuclear talks.
Meanwhile, Oman, a key mediator in U.S.-Iran negotiations, called Israel’s actions “reckless.” It placed full responsibility on Israel for destabilizing the region. Furthermore, Oman urged the global community to intervene immediately to stop further deterioration.
India, on its part, called on both Israel and Iran to “avoid escalation,” emphasizing its close and friendly ties with the two nations. Similarly, Australia and New Zealand warned that the region could not afford any further military action, urging all sides to act with restraint. In addition, Japan pledged to intensify its diplomatic efforts to help ease tensions and protect its citizens.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified that the U.S. was not involved in the Israeli strikes. However, he strongly warned Iran against targeting American interests or personnel in the region, stressing that Washington’s top priority remains the safety of its forces.
As tensions mount and nations urge calm, the fallout from the strikes continues to grow. The international response reflects rising global concern over the risk of a wider conflict.
