Pakistan’s security forces have foiled a major terror plot in Kalat following a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) that led to the elimination of 12 Indian-sponsored militants linked to the Balochistan Liberation Army, the military’s media wing confirmed on Sunday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the operation was launched after credible intelligence pointed to the presence of BLA militants, also referred to by authorities as Fitna al Hindustan, in the Kalat district.

Security forces moved swiftly to engage the suspects at their hideout, triggering an intense exchange of fire that resulted in the neutralization of all 12 terrorists.

ISPR stated that the militants were involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area and were actively planning further attacks aimed at destabilizing Balochistan.

During the operation, security personnel recovered a large cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives, underscoring the scale of the threat that was averted.

Earlier, security forces also recovered a 40-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED) from the Kuhak area of Kalat, which officials said could have caused significant loss of life if detonated.

A militant safe house was destroyed as part of the operation further disrupting the group’s operational capabilities.

The military said sanitization operations are continuing in and around Kalat to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.

The operation forms part of Pakistan’s broader counter-terrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.

ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies remain fully committed to eradicating foreign-sponsored terrorism and ensuring lasting peace and stability across the country, particularly in Balochistan.
