Security forces and law enforcement agencies conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 22 militants belonging to the group referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The operation was launched after credible intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants in a specific area of the district. As soon as the area was cordoned off, the militants attempted to escape and opened indiscriminate fire. Security forces responded effectively and targeted the hideouts, resulting in the killing of 22 militants.

Militants Open Fire During Encirclement Operation

ISPR stated that during the operation, the militants engaged in reckless firing while attempting to break the cordon. As a result of this firing, a 10-year-old child was tragically killed. Officials described the incident as a consequence of the militants’ indiscriminate actions and disregard for civilian life.

Security sources added that the militants’ response reflected panic and a lack of concern for innocent lives in the area.

Weapons Recovered As Clearance Operation Continues

A large cache of modern automatic weapons, hand grenades, and ammunition was recovered from the possession of the killed militants. According to ISPR, the group was allegedly planning major acts of sabotage in the region.

Security forces have launched a search and clearance operation to ensure that no remaining militants escape and to fully secure the area.

Operation Azm-e-Istehkam Underway Nationwide

ISPR reaffirmed that counter-terrorism operations under “Operation Azm-e-Istehkam” will continue across the country with full force. It stated that security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism and militant networks from Pakistan.

The operation in Khyber is being viewed as a significant development in ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
