Lakki Marwat Police conducted a major targeted operation in the forested area of Akhundan following a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in the border region. During the operation, a fierce exchange of fire took place between police and terrorists belonging to “Fitna al-Khawarij,” resulting in the killing of two militants. Meanwhile, a brave police officer, Ateeq-ur-Rehman, embraced martyrdom after showing exceptional courage.

Highly Wanted Commander Neutralized

According to police officials, one of the killed terrorists has been identified as highly wanted commander Aamir Sohail alias Aqabi alias Umar Khattab. He was wanted in multiple serious cases, including targeted killings, attacks on security forces and police, bombings, and other violent activities. During the operation, other militants managed to escape under the cover of dense forest, reportedly taking their injured associates with them. A large-scale search operation is underway to track them down.

Police Sacrifice and Renewed Resolve

DPO Lakki Marwat Nazir Khan stated that the police are fully committed to eliminating terrorism from the region and continue to play a frontline role in the fight against militancy. Paying tribute to the martyred officer, he said all available resources are being utilized to ensure peace and stability, and terrorists will not be given any leniency.

Security Situation

Officials noted that the operation took place in a border area adjacent to Bannu, where dense forests have long provided hiding spots for militants. However, the latest operation has dealt a significant blow to the terrorist network. Security remains on high alert in the region, and the search for fleeing militants continues as the security cordon tightens.
