Peshawar – Investigative officials have confirmed crucial details regarding the deadly suicide attack on the Federal Constabulary (FC) Headquarters in Peshawar last month, which resulted in the martyrdom of three personnel.

The identity and citizenship of the three attackers have been confirmed, and now the main emphasis has switched to dismantling the local network that aided the attackers.

This happened on November 24, on Saddar Road, when one terrorist blew himself up at the gate as two others were killed trying to enter the premises. The incident resulted in the martyrdom of three FC personnel and the injury of five others.

Terrorist Network Identified

The suicide bombers have been identified to be members of a banned terrorist. Earlier National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) confirmed that the three attackers were all Afghans.

The inquiry indicates that the attackers took several days before the explosion in Peshawar, which enabled them to familiarize themselves with the city routes. They were locally facilitated by provision and accommodation, as well as the supply of the suicide jackets and explosives that were used in the attack.

The Search for the Handler

Having established the identity of the attackers, the massive investigation is now focusing on the facilitator who helped the attackers. The three bombers, according to officials, did not use mobile phones on the day of the attack, indicating that they were immensely dependent on a local guide or a handler.

Investigative teams have even gotten video footage of the movements of the attackers in the Rehman Baba Graveyard area all the way up to the FC Headquarters, which assisted in reconstructing the sequence of their movements in the run-up to the explosion.

Related to the case, authorities indicate that over 150 individuals have been interviewed to date as police continue to probe the extent of planning and networking that went into the operation.

The large number of arrests is an indication of a wide security check throughout the city as the investigators seek to establish the chain of command to the prohibited terror group behind it.
