Tehran, Iran – Pakistan Special Representative to Afghanistan, Muhammad Sadiq Khan, revealed that he also conducted important individual meetings on the sidelines of the Afghanistan Neighbours Conference in Tehran with the representatives of China and Uzbekistan.
As affirmed by Ambassador Khan, the main point of the discussions was a collective anxiety regarding the rising terror of militant groups in the area.
The Pakistani, Chinese, and Uzbek factions were concerned about the high presence of terrorists in the neighbourhood, which had hindered economic integration in the region and posed significant security threats.
Ambassador Khan further confirmed the mutual agreement reached in the talks. “We agreed that collective efforts needed to address this threat,” he said.

The three nations indicated that the presence of terrorists in the neighbourhood is not only posing a great security threat but is actively neutralizing any attempts to establish regional economic connectivity.
This agreement is an indication that key players in the region have renewed their dedication to stabilizing their security environment by acknowledging that sustained economic connectivity and peace cannot be guaranteed without the removal of the existence of transnational terrorist groups.
The conferences highlight the continued top-tier diplomatic attention to the creation of a cohesive policy to guarantee stability along the Afghanistan border.
