Islamabad — Pakistan has strongly condemned the reported profiling of mosques and mosque management committees in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), calling it a serious violation of religious rights. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan described these actions as discriminatory and alarming, highlighting the ongoing pressures faced by religious communities under Indian administration.

A spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan urges the international community to take notice of these measures and ensure protection of the fundamental rights of religious institutions in IIOJK.

Pakistan Criticizes India for Targeting Religious Freedom

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan stated that profiling mosques and their committees undermines religious freedom and exacerbates tensions in the region. Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to raise the issue in international forums, urging India to immediately halt these discriminatory practices.

The Ministry noted that these measures are part of a broader pattern of control and repression over local populations in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Call for International Awareness and Action

The spokesperson added that Pakistan will continue to highlight the situation at global platforms, including the United Nations, to ensure that religious institutions and their leadership in IIOJK are safeguarded. The government emphasized that protecting freedom of religion and worship remains a top priority in its diplomatic efforts concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
