June-14,2025: Pakistan has strongly denounced the Israeli missile attacks on Iran, calling them a threat to regional stability. Speaking at a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) briefing on June 14, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad labeled the strikes “unjustified and illegitimate aggression.”

The Pakistani envoy stated the attacks violated the UN Charter and Iran’s sovereignty. “These strikes are a grave provocation,” he said, “and they undermine international law and peace in the region.”

He added that Pakistan stands in full solidarity with the people of Iran. “We offer condolences for the lives lost and the damage inflicted by this unlawful aggression,” he said.

UN Charter Violated, Self-Defence Stressed

Ambassador Ahmad emphasized that Israel’s actions contravened the UN Charter, particularly the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. “Such provocations endanger not just Iran, but the entire region,” he warned.

He also highlighted Iran’s right to self-defence under Article 51 of the Charter. This right, he said, becomes crucial in the face of such blatant aggression.

The UNSC session took place following an escalation between Israel and Iran that has left scores dead. According to Iranian sources, Israeli attacks targeted military and nuclear sites, killing over 78 people including top generals and nuclear scientists. More than 320 others sustained injuries.

In retaliation, Iran launched waves of missiles and drones towards Israel, hitting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. While Israel claimed to have intercepted most projectiles, several direct hits caused structural damage.

US Role Criticized, Tensions Escalate

While the U.S. military assisted in intercepting incoming Iranian missiles, Washington denied involvement in Israel’s initial strikes. However, Iran’s envoy to the UN accused the U.S. of complicity, warning of future consequences.

Ayatollah Khamenei swiftly replaced top commanders and vowed retribution, stating, “The Zionist regime has sealed its bitter destiny.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the attacks on over 200 sites, including key locations in Natanz, Isfahan, and Tehran. The International Atomic Energy Agency also reported damage at Iran’s uranium enrichment facility.

As tensions grow, voices like Pakistan’s at the UN highlight the urgent need for de-escalation and respect for international norms to safeguard regional stability.
