Pakistan has confirmed that its defence forces have carried out precise military operations inside Afghanistan following what it described as repeated terrorist attacks and direct military provocations from across the border. In an official statement issued on February 27, the Foreign Office said the action was taken after attacks by groups operating from Afghan soil and the latest hostile moves by the Taliban regime on the night of February 26.

According to the statement, the operations targeted terrorist groups and their logistical support bases. Pakistani officials said the strikes caused heavy losses to these outfits. The government stressed that the action was necessary to protect the country’s citizens and safeguard regional security.
Pakistan Cites Right to Defend Its Citizens
Officials said the operations were carried out under Pakistan’s right to self-defence. They added that the goal was not escalation but protection. The statement made clear that any further provocations by the Taliban regime or attempts by militant groups to harm Pakistan would be met with a firm and measured response.
At the same time, authorities underlined that Pakistan has shown restraint in recent months. The government said it had remained engaged in diplomatic and political efforts to address security threats coming from Afghan territory. However, it added that these efforts were misunderstood, leading to an increase in attacks against Pakistan.
Moreover, the statement accused the Taliban authorities of allowing groups such as Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan to operate freely. It also alleged that these groups received active backing, which further worsened the security situation.
Call for International Action and Regional Stability
Pakistan also called on the international community to play its role in the current crisis. The Foreign Office urged global powers to send a clear message to the Taliban regime to take concrete and verifiable steps against militant groups based in Afghanistan.
Despite the ongoing crisis, Pakistan said it still desires peace and stability in the region. Officials emphasized that Islamabad prefers dialogue but will not compromise on national security. The statement concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s right to take all necessary actions in line with international law and the UN Charter.
As the situation develops, officials say Pakistan will continue to monitor events closely while remaining prepared to protect its borders against all external threats.
