Pakistan conducted precise counter terror operations against TTP bases across the Afghan border, following repeated cross-border attacks that claimed Pakistani lives. Officials emphasized that these strikes were focused counter terror measures, not acts of aggression against Afghanistan.

Officials pointed out that Pakistan repeatedly highlighted the existence of TTP sanctuaries and requested verifiable action. Despite assurances, terrorist networks continued to operate from Afghan soil. Multiple diplomatic channels, including mediation through Qatar and Türkiye, were engaged before any operational step was taken. Dialogue was prioritized, escalation was not.

Counterterror Response, Not Afghan Aggression

Pakistan’s actions targeted terrorist infrastructure, not Afghanistan as a state or its armed forces. Sovereignty, officials said, does not grant immunity to territories used for attacks on neighbouring countries. Analysts stressed that response became necessary after repeated threats and confirmed operational risks.

Escalatory statements about “avenge” or “retaliate” only create space for TTP and other spoilers. Officials warned that any response shielding or enabling terrorist networks would be considered facilitation of terrorism. The clear path to de-escalation involves dismantling TTP camps, cutting off logistics and funding, and engaging in transparent, verifiable security coordination.

Domestic Efforts Highlight Pakistan’s Commitment

Claims that Pakistan is scapegoating Afghanistan overlook its intense domestic counterterror campaign. In 2025 alone, over 75,000 intelligence-driven operations were conducted, neutralizing thousands of terrorists while risking hundreds of civilian and security personnel lives.

Operational linkages show TTP handlers and planners working from across the border. Pakistan’s actions reflect evidence-based assessments, not political rhetoric. Officials insist that stability depends on dismantling terrorist networks, not retaliatory posturing that strengthens them.

Pakistan continues to urge Afghan authorities to take clear, decisive action against TTP bases to ensure long-term regional peace. Only cooperation, not rhetoric, can stop cross-border terrorism and protect civilians on both sides.
