Pakistan’s Solidarity with Gaza Over Two Years

Over the past two years, Pakistan has demonstrated practical solidarity and humanitarian support for the people of Gaza, reflecting its historic role within the Muslim Ummah. Both the Government of Pakistan and various charitable organizations have actively delivered relief efforts during the Gaza crisis.Official data shows Pakistan has dispatched thousands of tons of aid, including medicines, food, clothing, tents, and essential supplies. Prominent NGOs such as Alkhidmat Foundation, Edhi Foundation, and Muslim Medical Mission have also provided financial assistance and educational facilities to the affected population.

Educational Opportunities for Palestinian Students

Alkhidmat Foundation alone currently provides scholarships to approximately 200 Palestinian students pursuing medical and engineering education. The Government of Pakistan also invited a group of Palestinian students in 2024 to continue their studies in Pakistan, reaffirming the country’s commitment to offering educational opportunities to thousands of Palestinian students. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Palestinian students are at home in Pakistan and that the state would fulfill all their educational requirements.

Diplomatic Advocacy on Global Platforms

Pakistan’s support extends beyond humanitarian aid. On international platforms, it has consistently raised its voice for Palestinian rights. Pakistan’s UN representative, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, repeatedly condemned Israeli aggression in Gaza, urging the global community to immediately halt human rights violations and ensure a ceasefire.

His confrontation with the Israeli envoy, branding Israel as an occupying and oppressive state, received worldwide recognition. Similarly, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering stance alongside the Palestinian people and its refusal to accept Israeli occupation during his UN General Assembly address.

Pakistan’s Stance Against Afghan Propaganda

In the National Assembly, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq reiterated that Pakistan does not recognize Israel, which is explicitly reflected on Pakistani passports. However, the current Afghan government has neither praised this humanitarian spirit nor adopted a similar approach. Instead, Afghan authorities have continuously propagated negative narratives against Pakistan, targeting its foreign policy with baseless claims. Such actions are seen as irresponsible and appear to deliberately sow discord among Muslims in the region.

Challenges and Misinformation in Pakistan

Within Pakistan, certain groups attempt to exploit the Palestinian issue for political or religious agendas, ignoring the country’s principled stance. Recent social media rumors suggested Pakistan might deploy its military to Gaza. Veteran journalist Hamid Mir emphasized that any military decision must be taken with utmost caution to preserve Pakistan’s credibility and the trust of Palestinians.

Pakistan’s Ethical and Practical Role

These facts confirm that Pakistan’s role is not merely rhetorical but practical and ethical. Pakistan has built its relationship with Gaza on the foundations of humanity, justice, and Islamic principles. The need now is to systematically showcase Pakistan’s achievements and relief efforts to ensure global recognition and counter opposing propaganda. Pakistan’s approach remains one of peace, service, and principles, reinforcing its enduring commitment to the Muslim Ummah.
