Military diplomacy between Pakistan and China took center stage on Friday as the 98th founding day of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was commemorated at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The event reflected the deepening strategic and defense ties between the two neighbors.

Senior military and government officials attended the ceremony, including Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also sent a special message to mark the occasion.

Messages of Solidarity and Strategic Strength

Field Marshal Asim Munir, in his address, highlighted the historic relationship between the two countries. He emphasized that despite shifting global dynamics, the Pakistan-China friendship has remained resilient. “Our military diplomacy has stood the test of time. We have supported each other through every crisis,” he said.

The army chief underscored the importance of continued cooperation in defense and regional stability. “Pakistan values its partnership with China. We are committed to further deepening our strategic alignment.”

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in her statement, congratulated China on PLA’s 98th anniversary. She acknowledged the PLA’s role in promoting peace and security. “The contributions of China’s armed forces are not only regional but global in scope,” she said.

Symbol of Enduring Partnership

The ceremony also served as a symbolic reaffirmation of the two nations’ unwavering military partnership. As the Chinese Ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s gesture of hosting the event, he reiterated Beijing’s full support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and development goals.

Cultural performances and military presentations added to the atmosphere of camaraderie. Officials from both sides stressed the need for increased joint exercises and intelligence sharing to counter regional threats.

This celebration comes as both countries face evolving security challenges, including hybrid warfare and cross-border terrorism. Experts view such military diplomacy as essential for collective regional peace.

The GHQ ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to enhance bilateral defense cooperation. With both governments already engaged in several defense projects under CPEC, this event added momentum to ongoing collaboration.

In a world of shifting alliances, Pakistan and China continue to model consistent friendship. And at the heart of it lies their ever-strengthening military diplomacy.
