Pakistani film star Reema Khan has shared an interesting story from her career, revealing how she stood firm on culture and national pride during a stage performance with Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan in London. Speaking in a recent podcast, Reema recalled the moment as one that tested her values while working on an international stage.

She explained that the event also featured Pakistani actor Humayun Saeed and Indian actress Preity Zinta. According to Reema, the atmosphere backstage was friendly and respectful. Shah Rukh Khan introduced her warmly, and Preity Zinta welcomed her with kindness during rehearsals. However, as preparations moved forward, Reema felt it was important to clearly define her boundaries.

Standing Firm on Cultural Identity

First of all, Reema spoke about the issue of costume. During rehearsals, she was asked to wear a glamorous outfit designed to match the overall stage theme. While she respected the creative vision, she politely refused. Instead, she made it clear that she would perform only in shalwar kameez with a dupatta.

She explained that when representing Pakistan on an international platform, cultural identity should never be compromised. In her view, clothing is not just fashion but a reflection of values and heritage. As a result, she felt it was her responsibility to present herself in a way that stayed true to her roots.

A Demand Rooted in National Pride

In addition to her dress choice, Reema revealed a second condition that was even more symbolic. She requested equal representation of the national flags on stage. She stated that if the Indian flag was displayed prominently, then the Pakistani flag must also be shown with the same size and importance.

According to Reema, this was not about competition but about respect. She believed that artists may share the stage in friendship, yet national dignity must always be upheld. Otherwise, she said, she would not have taken part in the performance.

In conclusion, Reema Khan’s story highlights how personal values can guide professional choices. Her experience serves as a reminder that cultural respect and national pride can coexist with international collaboration, even under the spotlight.
