LAHORE — Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2026 following a remarkable and record-breaking performance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Sri Lanka.

Farhan emerged as the tournament’s leading run-scorer, accumulating an impressive 383 runs in seven matches at an average of 76.60. His outstanding campaign included two centuries and two half-centuries, underlining his consistency and dominance at the global stage.

The right-handed batter not only delivered impactful performances but also rewrote the record books. He surpassed Virat Kohli’s long-standing record for the most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup. In addition, Farhan became the first player to score two centuries in a single T20 World Cup, reaching three figures against Namibia and Sri Lanka.

Reflecting on the achievement, Farhan described the recognition as a special milestone in his career. He credited his teammates for their unwavering support, emphasizing that such success would not have been possible without collective effort.

This marks Farhan’s first ICC Player of the Month award, making him the first Pakistani male cricketer to receive the honour since Haris Rauf in November 2024.

The 29-year-old’s performances have also propelled him to a new career-high in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, where he now holds the second position. His century against Sri Lanka in Pallekele played a key role in this rise.

Farhan was also part of a historic 176-run partnership with Fakhar Zaman, the highest for any wicket in T20 internationals. However, despite a narrow five-run victory over Sri Lanka, Pakistan narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals due to an inferior net run rate.

The award highlights Farhan’s emergence as one of the standout performers in international T20 cricket and signals a promising future for Pakistan’s batting lineup.
