Rawalpindi_ The DG ISPR press conference on Friday delivered a strong warning against what the military described as a growing “negative narrative” that threatens Pakistan’s national security.
Without naming PTI founder, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that “one man’s narrative” has placed personal ambition above the state, adding that no individual is above the Constitution.
Speaking to reporters, he stressed that the Pakistan Army has repeatedly asserted its position, ‘we do not support any political party’. “We do not want to become part of politics,” he further said, noting that the military holds respect for all political groups and carries no political flag in its arsenal.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif also congratulated Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on being appointed as Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), notification of appointment has been issued today.
Moreover, he stated, the new CDF headquarters is now operational and will focus on military affairs and emerging security challenges.
‘No One Will Be Allowed to Create a Divide’
During the DG ISPR press conference, he maintained that personal egos and ambitions must not harm the country. He said some individuals are attempting to create a divide between the people and the armed forces. “No one will be allowed to create this divide,” he stated.
He added that the Constitution protects freedom of expression, but it does not permit irresponsible statements on national security.
He also criticized calls made from abroad urging overseas Pakistanis to halt remittances and telling people not to pay electricity bills, describing these actions as harmful to the economy.
Allegations of Foreign Amplification of Anti-Army Narrative
The DG ISPR noted that anti-army messaging is being amplified by networks based in India and Afghanistan, claiming that online trolling campaigns push these narratives within minutes.

He said Indian media has “become the voice of PTI” by repeatedly broadcasting content critical of Pakistan’s military.
Referring to the violent events of May 9, he said those who attacked GHQ, military monuments and Air Force assets belong to the same elements spreading the current narrative. He warned that attacking one’s own army only creates space for hostile forces.
