Lakki Marwat – An anti-terrorism operation in the Lakki Marwat district was successfully conducted by a joint force of specialized police units and local volunteers, marking a decisive move to bring peace back to the region.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) teams and the local police teams came together on the outskirts of the Wanda Amir Khan area on the specific instructions of the Inspector General (IG) Zulfiqar Hameed.

The target of the mission was one of the most sought-after terrorists in the region, a commander by the alias Barkatullah or Barkati and Abuzar.

A Legacy of Violence Ended

The person neutralized in this anti-terrorist operation was a high-profile suspect sought after in more than ten cases of serious crimes.

His criminal history was a shadowy one, including targeted murders, IED explosions, and direct assaults on the security services. Above all, he was wanted after the martyrdom of several devoted officers, among whom were Constables Samiullah and Asadullah of Begokhel, and Constable Hafiz Zeenatullah.

The news is an act of justice to the families of these fallen heroes.

This commander is reported to be one of the key leaders and supporters of different gangs that are engaged in extortion and murder, and his elimination would be a crucial move towards improving the security of the whole society.

Community and Police Standing Together

The active involvement of the Public Peace Committees was also what made this particular anti-terrorist operation so distinct.

These local volunteers were side by side with the police and CTD Special Weapons and Tactics Teams in the raid.

Upon the arrival of the force in the area, the terrorists fired back, and a reciprocal engagement ensued.

Although Barkatullah was killed during the exchange, his followers escaped into the rugged, hilly landscape in the adjacent area. An operation is still in progress to hunt down the rest of the fugitives.

Praises for Bravery and Regional Peace

After the successful mission, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu Sajjad Khan and Additional IG CTD praised the courage of the officers and volunteers.

They mentioned that the achievement of this anti-terrorist operation is a clear message that the state cannot afford the existence of the elements of Fitna-ul-Khawarij.

The leadership pointed out that the people of Lakki Marwat and the police share a common objective of ensuring that their district is once again transformed into a nest of peace.
