Impacts of Taliban activity have worsened law and order in KP, leaving people increasingly insecure; Says senior politician

July 3, 2025

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts, Taliban members roam openly while government and security agencies remain silent. The Bajaur blast has once again proven a major failure in implementing the National Action Plan. Senior politician Mian Iftikhar Hussain expressed these views in an exclusive conversation with HTN’s correspondent. He stated that it is no longer safe for government officials to travel at night from Kohat to Dera Ismail Khan. In the Pashtun and Baloch belts, lawlessness is increasing daily, while people only seek peace.

Meanwhile, despite improving Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, terrorism is rising instead of declining, raising questions about who is behind these attacks. If security personnel themselves are not safe, how can the public feel secure? Local elders have demanded the government and security leadership immediately implement the National Action Plan under a joint agenda to establish lasting peace in the Pashtun belt.

Experts believe that unless Pakistan and Afghanistan devise a joint strategy, ending terrorism will remain impossible. This news has been verified through credible sources, including local leaders and security officials.

Residents of the Pashtun belt say they are fed up with repeated terror attacks and urgently want peace. They demand the government take practical steps instead of issuing mere statements.

Public circles have also appealed to the United Nations and the international community to play their role in ensuring peace in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border areas so that stability can return to Pashtun and Baloch regions.
