IEA Condemns Pahalgam Attack in Occupied Kashmir

Kabul – 23 April 2025: The Taliban-led government in Afghanistan condemned the deadly Pahalgam attack that killed 28 people in occupied Kashmir on Tuesday. In a statement on Wednesday, the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed sympathy with the families of the victims. Taliban condemns Pahalgam attack one day after the attack in Jammu & Kashmir.

Spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi posted on social media platform X, said that the Taliban condemns Pahalgam attack and calling it a threat to regional stability. “Such acts threaten the security and stability of the region,” Balkhi wrote, offering condolences for those who lost their lives.

The attack in Baisarana village drew international condemnation, including from Pakistan, China, Germany, UAE, Sri Lanka, and the United States. Leaders across the world, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, also expressed solidarity.

The Muslim World League issued a statement labeling the incident as “ghastly,” extending support to the victims’ families.

Meanwhile, Indian Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the incident site on Wednesday morning for an on-ground security assessment. Later, Shah visited the Government Medical College in Anantnag to meet survivors and injured victims of the attack. Shah assured complete support to local authorities and pledged improved security for tourists in the region going forward.

Security has been tightened across Jammu and Kashmir following the attack. Investigations into the perpetrators are ongoing. The attack occurred as tensions remain high in occupied Kashmir, where India maintains a heavy security presence.

This event marks one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in the region in recent years.
