Khuzdar – 24 April 2025: BNP President Akhtar Mengal slams treatment of Baloch women, saying many are jailed for simply seeking their constitutional rights.

Speaking at a massive public rally at Mir Ghous Bakhsh Bizenjo Stadium in Khuzdar, Mengal stated that the political awakening of Baloch women had unsettled the ruling elite. “Our women in Balochistan are now so aware that the rulers are losing their sleep over it,” he said.

He added that the Baloch people no longer trust hollow promises. “This rally is unlike earlier ones. The crowd here shows that Balochistan is still alive and determined.”

Akhtar Mengal criticized the government’s silence on injustices, particularly regarding the treatment of Baloch women. He accused authorities of imprisoning women merely for peaceful activism. “The fear of an informed Baloch society is evident,” he said.

He defended his party’s decision to resign from the National Assembly. “We didn’t quit for politics. We stepped down to protest systemic injustice. I leave the judgment to my voters,” he remarked.

Mengal further announced that the Balochistan National Party (BNP) will hold another protest rally in Quetta on May 2. The upcoming rally aims to amplify their call for justice and protection of fundamental rights in Balochistan.

Throughout the event, participants chanted slogans against state policies and expressed frustration over the lack of political progress. The treatment of Baloch women and enforced disappearances remained key themes.

The BNP continues to highlight human rights concerns in Balochistan, urging the government to engage politically rather than suppress dissent.
