High-Alert Target Neutralized

Peshawar – June 16, 2025: Security forces have killed a wanted Pakistani Taliban affiliate in an intelligence-based operation near Ring Road, Peshawar. The militant, Khamim alias Rauf, was a local TTP commander from Bara, Khyber District. He was recently seen in a viral video filmed in Gujrat, Punjab. In that footage, he and his group openly carried weapons in an SUV while passing through a secure area.

The video sparked outrage on social media and exposed a serious terrorist threat in Punjab. Officials quickly launched a trace-and-track operation, leading them to a militant hideout near HBK Hypermarket in Peshawar.

Four Militants Eliminated in Security Operation

Security personnel raided the location based on confirmed intelligence. During the operation, they killed four militants, including Khamim. The three others were active facilitators of TTP movement across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Officials reported that the group was preparing for another high-profile move. The raid stopped them in time. One soldier received injuries during the exchange of fire but remains stable.

Security teams secured the area and recovered weapons, phones, and other devices used for coordination and propaganda. Officials have started analyzing the material to uncover the group’s larger network.

The Threat Was Real and Moving

The viral video had shocked many due to how openly the militants moved through a supposedly secure zone. Security officials now believe the group was testing boundaries, both physically and psychologically. Their goal may have been to boost recruitment or signal TTP’s reach.

Authorities are now planning follow-up actions against anyone who supported the group’s travel or provided safe houses. Intelligence teams are also reviewing security lapses in Gujrat and nearby districts.

This operation, though successful, underlines the ongoing terrorist threat in urban areas. Officials are urging public vigilance and closer cooperation between law enforcement and local communities.
