Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said that establishing lasting peace in Afghanistan is essential for the stability and security of the wider region. He stressed that developments in Afghanistan can directly affect neighboring countries and regional cooperation.
Speaking on Saturday, Fidan noted that several Central Asian countries share borders with Afghanistan. Because of this geographic link, any instability in Afghanistan can quickly spread across the region. He said that peace in the country is therefore not only important for Afghans but also for the security of nearby states.
At the same time, the Turkish foreign minister said that Ankara is closely monitoring recent tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan. According to him, such developments could influence the overall security situation in the region.
Afghanistan’s Stability Linked to Regional Security
Fidan explained that Afghanistan remains a key country for the stability of Central and South Asia. When the security situation improves, it helps neighboring countries maintain peace and economic cooperation. On the other hand, instability can create challenges such as security concerns and disruptions to regional partnerships.
He pointed out that many countries in the region have a strong interest in seeing Afghanistan become peaceful and stable. This is because their borders, trade routes, and security interests are closely connected to developments inside the country.

Furthermore, Fidan said that regional actors must continue to pay attention to the situation in Afghanistan. According to him, cooperation between countries can help prevent tensions from escalating and support long term stability.
Turkey Closely Watching Taliban–Pakistan Tensions
In addition, Fidan confirmed that Turkey is carefully following the recent tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan. The situation has raised concerns among regional governments about possible security implications.
He said that developments between Afghanistan and its neighbors can influence the broader regional environment. Because of this, countries in the region are closely observing the situation and assessing its impact.
Fidan also emphasized that peace in Afghanistan would strengthen regional dialogue and cooperation. A stable Afghanistan could support economic connections and improve security ties among neighbouring states.
For Turkey, maintaining stability in the region remains an important priority. Officials believe that lasting peace in Afghanistan will play a major role in ensuring security and cooperation across Central and South Asia.
