Islamabad – Police in the U.S. state of Delaware has detained an Afghan-American student following a security investigation. Officials say the 25-year-old undergraduate at the University of Delaware was found in possession of a firearm converted into a machine gun, ammunition, body armor, binoculars, and a planning notebook allegedly outlining potential attacks.
According to police, officers were conducting routine checks in a park when they discovered a white Toyota Tacoma parked in a suspicious manner late at night. The driver refused to exit the vehicle and resisted, after which he was taken into custody.
Discovery of Attack Plans
During the search, a notebook recovered from the vehicle contained detailed plans for an attack on a police station, handwritten notes on combat techniques, and maps of the University of Delaware Police Department building, including marked entry and exit points. The notebook also mentioned the name of a police officer.
Federal Investigation and Charges
The FBI was brought in for further investigation. Federal agents searched the suspect’s home and seized a pistol fitted with an illegal “switch” device that converts it into a fully automatic machine gun.
Luqman Khan now faces multiple serious firearm-related charges, including possession of a machine-gun-convertible weapon and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Officials have confirmed that he has been fully banned from all university campuses pending completion of the investigation.
The university administration stated that campus security has been further tightened, and students have been instructed to report any suspicious activity immediately.
