President Asif Ali Zardari has held key meetings with the senior political leadership of China’s Hunan province in Changsha during his ongoing visit, reaffirming a commitment to expanding cooperation in agriculture, industry, and technology.
During the visit, Zardari met Hunan Communist Party Secretary Shen Xiaoming and Governor Mao Weiming. He invited Shen Xiaoming to undertake an official visit to Pakistan and emphasized that bilateral ties hold special significance as the two countries mark 75 years of diplomatic relations. He described the historic and people-to-people relationship between Pakistan and China as a cornerstone of Islamabad’s foreign policy.
Focus on Agricultural and Industrial Cooperation
In the discussions, the president praised Hunan’s advancements in modern agricultural technology and stressed the need to enhance cooperation in agricultural research, seed development, and modern farming practices. He said Pakistan is keen to expand bilateral trade in sectors such as agricultural machinery, mineral extraction, and information technology to further strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
Emphasis on Friendship and Shared Commitment
Zardari also referred to his long-standing personal and family ties with China, stating that the people of Pakistan and China share a deep and enduring bond. The meeting included a review of ongoing projects in health, education, and trade, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to further expanding cooperation at the public level in the future.
