Morristown, New Jersey, 26 May 2025 — Russia sanction: Former US President Donald Trump sharply criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, calling his recent actions “absolutely chaotic” following Russia’s largest aerial assault on Ukraine since the war began. Trump also hinted at considering more sanctions on Russia while criticizing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy for his public statements.

Trump Condemns Putin’s Aggression and Signals Sanctions

Speaking to reporters at Morristown Airport, Trump condemned Putin’s recent military actions, saying, “Something has happened to him. He has become absolutely chaotic!” He described the unprecedented Russian drone and missile attack on Ukrainian cities as a devastating escalation. Furthermore, Trump warned that Putin’s desire to control all of Ukraine could lead to Russia’s downfall.

In response to the attacks, Trump suggested imposing additional sanctions on Moscow. “I don’t know what’s wrong with him. He’s killing a lot of people. I’m not happy about that,” he stated firmly. Additionally, the former president emphasized the seriousness of the situation and called for firm measures to address it.

Trump Criticizes Zelenskiy’s Public Statements

Alongside his remarks on Putin, Trump openly criticized Ukrainian President Zelenskiy, accusing him of creating unnecessary problems. “Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop,” Trump said. This rare public rebuke highlights Trump’s complex stance on the Ukraine conflict, balancing pressure on both sides to pursue peace.

Kremlin Responds to Trump’s Comments

The Kremlin responded by attributing Trump’s harsh words to emotional overload but expressed gratitude for Trump’s role in facilitating peace talks. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “We are really grateful to the Americans and to President Trump personally for their assistance in organizing and launching this negotiation process.” However, Peskov also acknowledged the emotional strain affecting all parties involved in the conflict.

Meanwhile, Ukraine reported that the recent Russian air raids involved at least 367 drones and missiles, resulting in multiple casualties including children in the Zhytomyr region. This attack marks the most extensive weapons barrage in the war to date.

As fighting intensifies in eastern Ukraine, the international community watches closely. Trump’s comments further underscore growing tensions and the looming possibility of new Russia sanctions.
