Zarnawsh Naseem Killed in Explosive Stand-Off

Kashmir-Zarnawsh Naseem, a key militant, was killed along with three others during a raid by law enforcement agencies in Rawalakot’s Hussain Kot area early Thursday morning. The operation targeted a suspected hideout used by anti-state elements.

According to sources, Naseem blew himself up with an explosive device as security forces approached. The blast resulted in his immediate death and caused minor damage to surrounding structures.

Security officials acted on intelligence reports suggesting the presence of wanted individuals in the area. When personnel surrounded the location, the militants reportedly opened fire. In response, heavy weapons were used, leading to a brief but intense exchange.

From Arrest to Radical Re-Emergence

Sources confirmed that Zarnawsh Naseem had been arrested some time ago. However, after his release, he went into hiding. He later re-emerged and resumed activities targeting security forces.

Investigators believe Naseem played a central role in planning attacks in the region. His return to militancy raised serious concerns among security agencies. Efforts were already underway to locate him when the tip-off about his whereabouts came in.

The three other militants killed in the raid have not yet been formally identified. Their bodies have been moved for forensic analysis, while further investigations are ongoing.

Following the incident, security in the surrounding areas has been heightened. Authorities have set up temporary checkpoints and increased patrols to prevent any retaliatory attempts by militant sympathizers.

Residents of Hussain Kot reported hearing heavy gunfire and an explosion early in the morning. Many expressed concern but welcomed the action taken by security forces to restore peace.

While the operation has ended, officials say the threat of sleeper cells remains. The killing of Zarnawsh Naseem, a key militant, is being described as a significant success in the fight against insurgency in the region.
