Mina, June 4, 2025 —Saudi Arabia Ensures smooth start to Hajj 2025 as Pilgrims gather in Mina for day of Tarwiyah, emulating the journey of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This day officially launches the sacred Hajj rituals, and spiritual energy continues to intensify across the Holy City of Makkah.

Pilgrims Arrive Smoothly and Complete Tawaf Al-Qudum

Dr. Mohammed Al-Qarni, director general of Hajj and Umrah at the General Transportation Center of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites, confirmed that all international pilgrims have arrived in Mina. They completed the 36-day arrival process without facing any disruptions while traveling between Makkah and Madinah.

Domestic pilgrims began arriving in Makkah on Monday night. After performing Tawaf Al-Qudum, they started heading toward Makkah on Tuesday night to begin their Hajj journey. On Wednesday, Dhul Hijjah 8, they marched toward the Tent City, chanting the talbiyah as they observed the Day of Tarwiyah.

Establishments Ensure Efficient Transport and Upgraded Infrastructure

Establishments are transporting Hajis from Makkah to Mina—and eventually to Arafat—using three modes: the Mashair train, traditional buses, and multi-modal systems. Dr. Al-Qarni stated that train will carry 316,000 pilgrims, while buses and other transportation systems will serve around 720,000 Hajis. The ascending phase to Arafat will begin on the morning of Dhul Hijjah 9.

To improve comfort amid soaring temperatures, authorities have upgraded Al-Khayf Mosque in Mina. They expanded it to cover more than 27,000 square meters and installed advanced cooling units, smart ventilation, and CO₂ monitors that automatically adjust temperature and air quality.

Health Authorities Boost Services and Enforce Safety Protocols

Anticipating intense summer heat, Saudi health authorities have scaled up healthcare services. Dr. Abdullah Asir, deputy minister of health, shared that over 50,000 healthcare professionals and administrative staff are actively serving during Hajj 2025. Establishments also placed more than 700 hospital beds equipped with cooling fans on standby to treat heat-related illnesses.

Eng. Khaled Al-Tala’a, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, reported that all Hajis remain in stable health. Establishments have deployed three mobile field hospitals and activated 71 emergency points. They increased bed capacity by 60% compared to last year and have already delivered over 98,000 healthcare services.

Through its coordinated efforts, the Saudi government continues to prioritize the safety, comfort, and spiritual well-being of the millions of Hajjis participating in Hajj 2025.
