Peshawar | July 25, 2025 — In a bold and determined move towards establishing long-lasting peace in the region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur chaired a significant All Parties Conference in Peshawar today. Addressing representatives from all major political parties, he laid out a clear roadmap aimed at restoring law and order in the province, while sharply criticizing the role of the federal government in managing regional affairs especially in the conflict-ridden tribal belt and Pak-Afghan border areas.

Chief Minister Calls for Immediate Grand Peace Jirga in Peshawar

During his address, Ali Amin Gandapur announced that a grand peace jirga would soon be convened in Peshawar. This important gathering will include leaders of political parties and respected regional elders from across various districts. He emphasized that this jirga is not just a symbolic act, but a serious step towards building sustainable peace by involving all stakeholders directly affected by ongoing instability.

He stressed, “We will not allow more experiments on peace. Thousands have already lost their lives in the name of peace operations. Now, it is time to act with wisdom, unity, and clarity.”
With strong emotions, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister recalled how civilians bore the brunt of drone attacks and previous military operations, which brought neither peace nor stability. “We witnessed massive economic losses and countless civilian casualties. We must learn from these painful lessons,” he said.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Demands Clear Policy on Taliban and Border Security

Taking a firm position on the Taliban issue, Ali Amin Gandapur openly demanded the abolishment of the policy that distinguishes between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ Taliban. He asserted that all such elements pose a threat to the peace and sovereignty of the province and must be dealt with firmly. “If they are seen anywhere in the province, strict action will be taken immediately,” he warned.

Moreover, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister expressed serious concerns over the federal government’s failure to ensure law and order near the Pak-Afghan border. He declared that it is the federal government’s constitutional responsibility to maintain peace in the border areas yet they have failed miserably. “Their inaction has resulted in growing insecurity and economic stagnation,” he said.

At the same time, Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the federal government’s repeated unfulfilled promises, which have, according to him, disappointed the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Ali Amin Gandapur Criticizes Federal Government’s Tax Policy and Afghan Jirga Delegation

In his press conference, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister vehemently rejected the federal government’s imposition of taxes on the tribal areas. “On one side, taxes are being imposed on our people, while on the other, our trade is suffering due to the federal government’s inability to ensure peace on the border,” he remarked.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister urged the central authorities to review and revise their tax and border policies in light of the economic and security challenges faced by the local population. “These unfair policies are choking the livelihoods of thousands who depend on cross-border trade,” he added.

Additionally, Ali Amin Gandapur expressed strong objections to the delegation sent by the federal government to the Afghan Grand Jirga without consulting the provincial leadership. “Figures like Ishaq Dar and Mohsin Naqvi cannot represent the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This move is a clear violation of the Constitution and undermines provincial autonomy,” he asserted.

He further questioned the legitimacy of the federal delegation, saying, “Such decisions cannot be made without the permission of the provincial government. It is an outright denial of our rights.”

Grand Jirga in Peshawar to Set Future Course of Action

Concluding the press conference, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur once again highlighted the urgency of holding the grand peace jirga in Peshawar. He announced that all major tribal elders, politicians, and key stakeholders will be invited to this historic gathering. The goal, he reiterated, is to craft a unified and region-specific strategy for peace and development that genuinely reflects the will of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In summary, Ali Amin Gandapur’s address marks a significant turn in provincial politics and security discourse. By calling out the federal government’s inaction, rejecting unfair taxation, and pushing for inclusive peace efforts through a grand jirga, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister has positioned himself as a proactive and vocal leader determined to safeguard the province’s rights and future.
