ISLAMABAD — Field Marshal Asim Munir on Monday delivered a powerful message on national security, declaring that Pakistan is a peace-loving nation but will never compromise on its sovereignty, dignity, and territorial integrity. He warned that if war is imposed on Pakistan, the response would be “exactly like May 2024.”
Speaking at a state luncheon hosted at Aiwan-e-Sadr in honour of Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Field Marshal Asim Munir said that Pakistan seeks peace, but not at the cost of its national survival. “When a Muslim places their trust in Allah,” he remarked, “even the dust thrown towards the enemy becomes a missile.”
A Clear Strategic Signal
The reference to May 2024 is widely interpreted as a clear strategic warning, reminding adversaries of the decisive and proportionate response Pakistan delivered during the regional escalation earlier that year. Analysts describe the statement as a calibrated message aimed at reinforcing deterrence amid rising regional tensions.
Faith, Unity, and National Resolve
Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted that Pakistan’s victories have always come through faith, unity, and divine support, citing the example of past conflicts with India. He attributed Pakistan’s national resilience to the collective strength of its people, saying:
“Pakistan’s success is the result of Allah’s help and the unity of the Pakistani nation.”
Drawing from the Battle of Uhud, he emphasized the importance of patience, perseverance, and steadfast faith in moments of national trial.
Jordan–Pakistan Bilateral Relations Strengthened
The luncheon was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, top military leadership, and senior government officials. The ceremony marked King Abdullah II’s visit to Pakistan, during which both nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence, diplomatic, and economic cooperation. Officials from both sides stressed deeper collaboration, particularly in the areas of counter-terrorism, military training, and regional security.
