Peshawar – On Tuesday, three terrorists were killed by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Peshawar during an intelligence operation. Police officials believed the suspects had assembled in the area to orchestrate a big sabotage.
The mission was carried out under the territory of Matni Police Station, which is located close to the Akhun Baba graveyard on the Azakhel Road. The raid was launched by the CTD, accompanied by its Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams, upon credible information regarding the terrorists.
Officials say that the operation soon resulted in an exchange of fire as the terrorists opened fire on the police party. The security agents responded in self-defence, killing three terrorists on the go. Unfortunately, two of their accomplices escaped the scene.
The bodies were later found by a further search of the area, which also uncovered a considerable amount of weaponry, three Kalashnikov rifles, nine magazines, and a considerable amount of ammunition.
Massive police forces have since been deployed on the scene, and a massive search exercise is being undertaken to locate and apprehend the two suspects who fled.
The Additional Inspector General of Police, CTD, and Inspector General of Police Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed lauded the effort of the personnel in the successful operation. They assured that it is a positive action taken against the criminals and they promised to speed up the counter-terrorism efforts so that it could guarantee the safety and peace of the citizens and the eradication of terrorism in the province.
