Afghanistan_ Fighters of the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) carried out a targeted attack on a Taliban base in Faryab province on Tuesday evening, killing two Taliban members and injuring another.
The attack took place around 6:00pm near the Police Headquarters, where the Taliban’s Highway Battalion maintains a presence.
Officials familiar with the incident said the operation was carefully planned and formed part of a wider campaign by the AFF against Taliban security installations in the province.
The group has stepped up its activities in Faryab in recent months, focusing on what it describes as key Taliban positions.

This was not the first such incident in the area. In October, AFF fighters attacked Taliban elements in the provincial capital Maimana, resulting in the deaths of several Taliban personnel.
A similar operation in November also left multiple Taliban fighters killed or wounded. These repeated attacks indicate a sustained pattern rather than isolated incidents.
Security analysts say the Afghanistan Freedom Front is attempting to weaken the Taliban’s local control by targeting security units that play a role in maintaining checkpoints and movement across the province.
Faryab, located in northern Afghanistan, has seen growing signs of armed resistance as dissatisfaction with Taliban rule continues to simmer.
Local residents and some members of the former Afghan administration have described the latest operation as a positive development, arguing that it reflects public frustration with Taliban governance and security practices.
The Taliban have not issued an official statement on the Faryab attack. The incident adds to a growing list of security challenges facing the Taliban, underlining that despite claims of nationwide control, armed opposition groups continue to operate in several parts of Afghanistan.
