This number takes the cumulative number of deaths since October 2023 to an astounding 72,372 individuals.
In addition to loss of life, the week was also characterized by intense military raids, destruction of homes, and the growth of settlement activities that are still displacing families in the region.
Devastation in the Gaza Strip
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is at the point of breaking down with winter weather clashing with continued military action.
The Observatory established that 292 deaths were caused in active warfare, and 30 bodies had been found under the rubble of the buildings that had been destroyed.
With the cold and absence of shelter due to the heavy rains flooding the tents of the displaced families, many of them are now falling ill with severe illnesses.
These Israeli crimes against Palestinians are also accompanied by new evacuation orders in regions that were previously safe, and families are forced to flee again as military expansion requires the destruction of residential blocks.
Escalation in the West Bank
The violence has also escalated in the West Bank, where occupation forces have made 285 raids in one week. In the process, 212 Palestinians, including seven children, were arrested.
The report notes massive devastation of infrastructure, such as the bulldozing of streets, power interruption, and demolition of ten houses and a few agricultural facilities.
These Israeli crimes against Palestinians go as far as seizing personal property; in certain towns, soldiers took up residence and converted the houses into military bases, and they were said to seize gold and cash from people during searches.
Settler Attacks and Land Seizure
Settler violence is on the sharp rise, as 75 attacks were recorded over the reporting period. In another case in Hebron, an infant girl had been wounded when the settlers hurled stones at her family’s car.
Moreover, the livelihoods of Palestinian farmers are also targeted by the settlers who uproot hundreds of olive trees and steal livestock.
The Observatory adds that these Israeli crimes against Palestinians are frequently connected with the settlement expansion, including the recently announced project to construct 1,200 units in the Beit El settlement.
This organized land-grabbing exercise continues to tear apart the Palestinian communities and to disenfranchise the farming legacy of the area.
