Chinese Interior Minister Wang Xiaohong praised Pakistan’s efforts in counter-terrorism and internal security and said China highly values Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
He also expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements made for Chinese citizens and projects in Pakistan.
Mohsin Naqvi briefed the Chinese side on the measures taken to protect Chinese nationals and joint development projects, saying their security remains Pakistan’s top priority.
He said a special protection unit is being set up in Islamabad specifically for the security of Chinese nationals.
The issue carries particular importance as Chinese citizens have been targeted in several attacks in recent years by TTP and BLA.
Cybercrime cooperation and long-term security partnership
The two sides also discussed cooperation in preventing cybercrime.
Naqvi said Pakistan wants to benefit from Chinese expertise to strengthen the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency, adding that AI-based Chinese technologies could play a key role in counter-terrorism and internal security.
Both ministers agreed to enhance information-sharing between security institutions and adopt a joint strategy to improve training, operational coordination and professional skills.
Naqvi invited his Chinese counterpart to visit Pakistan, while Wang Xiaohong invited him to attend the Global Security Cooperation Forum scheduled to be held in China in September.
The Chinese minister reiterated that Pakistan and China are strategic partners and expressed China’s readiness to cooperate with Pakistan at all levels to address shared security challenges.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from both sides to further strengthen their long-standing security partnership in line with the broader goals of regional stability and development.
