Bangladesh’s cricket board has again refused to send its team to India for next month’s T20 World Cup, citing security concerns and tense political relations between the two countries.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said it repeated its position during talks with the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday.
The T20 World Cup is set to begin on February 7, and Bangladesh are scheduled to play all four of their group matches in India.
However, the BCB wants the ICC to move those games to co-host Sri Lanka instead.
The dispute began earlier this month when India forced Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman to leave the Indian Premier League, even though he had been picked by Kolkata for more than one million dollars.
The move caused anger in Dhaka and added to already strained ties.
Relations between the two countries have been uneasy since a mass uprising in 2024 removed former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The BCB said it is not willing to take any risks with the safety of its players and staff.
The ICC has not commented so far, and talks are continuing to find a solution.
