The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has rejected claims circulating on social media that thousands of families in the Tirah Valley are being forcibly evacuated due to a military operation or the alleged settlement of ISIS-KP in the area.

In a statement issued by the official KP government fact-check account, authorities said the claims were false, misleading and not based on ground realities.

According to the government, seasonal migration from Tirah is a long-standing and routine practice, as residents traditionally move to lower areas during the harsh winter months.

The statement clarified that there is no forced displacement taking place. It said that while some families are relocating temporarily, this is being done for security reasons and with the knowledge and consent of local communities, jirgas and tribal elders.

The government added that the people of Tirah largely support ongoing operations against terrorist elements to restore peace and stability in the region.

The KP government also rejected claims that ISIS-KP is being settled in Tirah.

It said there is no evidence of such activity and that instead, Fitna-al-Khawarij elements are being targeted daily through intelligence-based operations.

Officials said security forces are deliberately avoiding large-scale operations in populated areas to prevent civilian harm, as militants have previously used villages as cover.

The fact-check statement said the false narrative is being pushed by PTM, FAK and some Afghan-linked propaganda accounts to misrepresent routine seasonal movement and limited precautionary steps as forced displacement.

The government stressed that the movement of people is either seasonal or voluntary, community-approved and aimed only at protecting civilians and maintaining peace in the area.
