Lahore — Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi strongly advocated increasing players’ salaries during a meeting of the Pakistan Super League Governing Council, stressing that improved compensation should reflect the league’s growing commercial value.
According to sources, Mohsin Naqvi urged franchise owners to raise players’ pay, noting that as the market value of teams continues to rise, players also deserve better financial rewards for their contributions.
Chairman Links League Growth to Better Player Compensation
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that the Pakistan Super League has expanded significantly in terms of brand strength and market appeal. He emphasized that player remuneration should progress in line with this growth to further strengthen the league’s competitiveness and reputation.
He also proposed the introduction of a player auction system, similar to team bidding, suggesting that players for Pakistan Super League Season 11 be selected through auctions to ensure transparency and maximize player benefits.
Equal Opportunities for New Teams Highlighted
The Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman underlined the importance of providing equal opportunities to the two newly added teams, particularly in the player selection process. He stressed that fairness and balance remain central to the league’s structure.
Sources added that discussions on player retention by existing teams are expected to take place in an upcoming working committee meeting.
Franchise Owners Welcome Expansion
The meeting, chaired by Mohsin Naqvi, was attended by representatives of all eight franchises, along with Pakistan Cricket Board and Pakistan Super League officials. Franchise owners also welcomed and congratulated the owners of the two new teams following the successful completion of the team auction.
