The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned a recent statement issued by the Group of Seven countries, calling it a clear case of foreign interference in Iran’s internal affairs and an example of what Tehran described as the group’s “fraudulent approach” to human rights.
In an official response, the Foreign Ministry stated that the Group of Seven countries, led by the United States of America, lack moral credibility on human rights issues. Iranian officials argued that the statement ignored what they described as documented acts of violence carried out by organized terrorist elements during unrest in early January 2026.

Iran Links January Violence to Foreign-Backed Terrorist Activity
According to the Foreign Ministry, peaceful public gatherings between 8 and 10 January 2026 were deliberately turned violent by what it called terrorist agents equipped and organized with support from the Israeli regime. The statement said that these actions resulted in attacks on protesters as well as law enforcement and security personnel, causing injuries and loss of life.
Iranian authorities said clear public remarks by current and former officials of the United States of America, along with statements from Israeli officials, encouraged violence and terrorism. The ministry added that security agencies had collected solid evidence showing direct involvement by the Israeli regime in arming and coordinating these groups, with political and logistical backing from the United States.
Tehran Defends Internal Security and National Sovereignty
While reaffirming its constitutional commitment to protecting fundamental rights, including the right to peaceful protest, Iran said it would fully carry out its responsibility to safeguard public order and national security. The Foreign Ministry emphasized that Iran would continue to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against what it described as terrorism pushed from abroad.
The statement also criticized Group of Seven member states for what it called their own “shameful records” of human rights violations, both domestically and in West Asia. Iranian officials accused these countries of complicity in the ongoing war in Gaza due to their continued support for, or silence toward, the actions of the Israeli regime against the Palestinian people.
Iran further stated that it would not forget the support given by the governments of the United States of America, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, and other Group of Seven members for Israeli military actions against Iran, which Tehran said led to the killing of hundreds of Iranians during the summer of 2025.
The Foreign Ministry concluded by urging Group of Seven countries to end what it described as illegal interference in Iran’s domestic affairs, lift sanctions against the Iranian people, and stop using human rights as a political tool to justify pressure, violence, and destabilization.
