Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting as Pakistan looks to strengthen engagement with global trade and investment partners.

In a post on X, the prime minister said he had arrived to advance Pakistan’s participation at the forum and to present the country’s economic potential to international stakeholders.

A video shared with the post showed him disembarking from the aircraft alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.

The prime minister said Pakistan’s ongoing economic reform journey was opening new opportunities, supported by a resilient and entrepreneurial workforce and strong potential in sectors such as energy, agriculture, minerals and emerging technologies.

He added that Pakistan was ready to turn this potential into mutually beneficial economic cooperation and long term investment.

In a separate statement, the Foreign Office said Ishaq Dar, besides attending WEF sessions, would also hold sideline bilateral meetings with his counterparts to promote Pakistan’s diplomatic and economic priorities.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the prime minister had been invited to the forum to interact with world leaders and global business leaders.

He said the visit would support Pakistan’s economic reform program and further strengthen the country’s standing in the international community.

Earlier, the Foreign Office said the WEF annual meeting would be held from January 20 to 22.

The statement added that the prime minister’s schedule included several important engagements, including participation in the WEF’s Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders session titled “Restoring a Spirit of Dialogue in a Divided World”.

The prime minister is also expected to host and chair a Pakistan-focused high level business roundtable with corporate leaders.

On the sidelines, he will meet several world leaders and business executives.

The Foreign Office said the prime minister will present Pakistan’s views on global and regional peace and development and highlight the government’s economic vision, reforms and investment opportunities during the visit.
