Severe winter conditions have gripped parts of Balochistan after heavy snowfall pushed temperatures in Chaman to a record -10 degrees Celsius, disrupting daily life and blocking key roads.

According to officials, intense snowfall has closed several routes in and around Chaman, cutting the city off from the rest of the province.

Hundreds of tourists remain stranded after the first major snowfall of the season blocked roads in Chaman and other parts of northern Balochistan.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department said areas including Chaman, Khojak Top, Khwaja Imran, Toba Achakzai, Qila Abdullah, Gulistan, Jangal Pir Alizai, Shela Bagh and Mezai Adda are still receiving snowfall.

Khojak Top and Khwaja Imran recorded temperatures of -3°C, while Toba Achakzai fell to -4°C, with snowfall reaching up to one and a half feet.

Meanwhile, Noshki and Qalat also received their first snowfall of the winter season, blanketing mountains in white after nearly eight years.

However, power outages have added to residents’ difficulties.

Across the country, widespread rain and snowfall under a strong weather system have turned conditions colder.

The PMD has issued a high alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms and snowfall in several regions, urging caution in northern and mountainous areas.
